Vinyl Flooring Price Guide

Vinyl Flooring Prices - Factors To Consider

When you are looking for an estimate for vinyl flooring prices, two things are going to be the main factors: the cost of the tiles and the cost of installation. Having various options to choose from, the actual tiles themselves will not be very expensive. The quality of the supplies will be dictated by the area of your home and type of traffic that it is likely to see.

For instance, the cheapest option available is the peel and stick tile. These are not going to cost you very much money, but they are not very durable either. You will not want to place them in an area that will see extreme moisture or traffic. The cost of these tiles is usually less than $.50 per square foot.

For areas of the home that are going to be used more, you will want to use vinyl tiling. These tiles will have to be placed with an adhesive and will stand up to both traffic and moisture. They are much more durable and you will generally have better options in styles to choose from. On the upper end of the pricing you will find commercial flooring and that is the best choice for extremely busy areas. This will cost you just under a $1 per square foot, plus the cost of the adhesive.

Finally, you have vinyl sheets. You can choose from the less expensive sheets that will run you as little as $2 per square yard or get the more durable commercial sheets for about $20 per square yard. Again, if you are going to be putting this down in an area that is going to see a lot of traffic, you are better spending the money to make sure that it lasts. You will also have to pay the price of the adhesive for this as well.

If you are going to do this yourself, the only other cost you will see is your time. This style of flooring, especially the peel and stick tiles, is extremely easy to do and lends itself to being a great first time DIY project. When you add the cost of an installer to it, you are looking at about $5 per square foot. For that price, you can misplace 10 straight tiles and still be ahead of the game.

Vinyl flooring prices have very little factors involved and if you have the time, you are better off keeping your costs down and doing it yourself. You can literally watch a video and be able to drop down your own floor. For those that are stuck on paying someone to do it, be prepared to add significantly to the overall costs of your vinyl flooring.
