The Linoleum Floor Guide

If You Are Looking for Something Durable, Linoleum Flooring is the Perfect Choice

While linoleum flooring is often mistaken for vinyl flooring, the only real similarity is the pricing. It is one of the cheapest available, but you can be assured that your getting more than your money's worth. You can try putting down a fancy marble floor when the kids are off on their own, but when you have high traffic areas that get abused, a linoleum floor is one of your best bets.

Now as we said, it is very comparable in price to vinyl flooring. If you choose to have a professional install it, you will also be looking at the same price range, about $6 per square foot. However, that is about where the comparisons end.

Linoleum is much more durable that many of the vinyl floors that are out on the market. Even the best commercial vinyl flooring can wear down after 10 years in a high traffic zone, but that is child's play to a linoleum floor as 20 or more years can be expected. A 25 year guarantee is not out of the norm for a quality floor. This means that as long as you maintain it, you will only have to put down a floor once the entire time that you live in your home.

Another feature that makes this floor a great choice is the fact that it is great in areas that are prone to moisture. This means that the kitchen, bathroom and laundry room are prime candidates for this kind of a floor. While you never want water to come in direct contact with your floor, the occasional spill or pet accident will no longer mean the end of the world. A quick mop and you are good to go.

That brings us right into our next point in that it is very easy to care for. If you have a marble or hardwood floor, you can spend considerable money in caring for your floor over the years. Not only that, but you may end up on your hands and knees cleaning it more often that you would like. With a linoleum floor, all you are really ever going to need is a good mop and broom.

Linoleum flooring is a great option for a busy home. It is fairly cheap and very easy to care for. If you have any type of home repair experience, you may even be able to save the money on the installation and put it down yourself.
